Our pick: Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone AF400UK

* Average price in the past six months: £199. Cheapest price in the past six months: £139

Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone AF400UK

We like: Large capacity and dual cooking zones

We don't like: Uses more energy than others

This air fryer has a total capacity of 9.5 litres, split between two 4.75-litre drawers; Ninja says that you can feed around eight people when this air fryer is completely full.

Each drawer can run its own program and timings, and there’s a useful sync function that ensures the food in both drawers is ready to serve up at the same time. It does this by starting the slower program first, so both timers hit zero simultaneously.

This air fryer has six functions: air fry, max crisp (for frozen food), roast, bake, dehydrate and reheat.

Is this the best choice for bigger families? Our full Ninja Foodi Max Dual Zone AF400UK review reveals all.

Tefal Easy Fry Pizza FW4018G0

* Average price in the past six months: £106. Cheapest price in the past six months: £80

Tefal Easy Fry Pizza FW4018G0 air fryer.

We like: It has dishwasher-safe parts

We don't like: The instructions lack a troubleshooting guide

As the name suggests, this Tefal air fryer is specifically designed for cooking pizza, although that isn’t all it does. There are actually 10 auto programs to choose from, including fries, nuggets, fish, vegetables and, of course, fresh and frozen pizza.

Tefal claims its Extra-Crisp technology and double heaters ‘ensure crispy results in no time’.

Digital controls make adjusting time, temperature and settings simple and the viewing window lets you check your food without opening the basket.

Philips 3000 Series NA352/00

* Average price in the past six months: £145. Cheapest price in the past six months: £100

Philips 3000 Series NA352/00

We like: It's easy to use

We don't like: It's not the easiest to clean

This dual-zone air fryer from Philips comes with two removable drawers to accommodate your food – with one being larger than the other. It's easy to use and program, and we had no issues assembling the air fryer for cooking or removing baskets during or after use.

It measures 31 x 45 x 39cm (HxWxD) and weighs 7.9kg, which is about average for a dual air fryer – just take care when handling as some people may find it a bit heavy.

See our Philips 3000 Series NA352/00 review to find out if this air fryer is the one for your kitchen.

Buy the Philips 3000 Series NA352/00 air fryer for £99.99 from Currys, John Lewis or Philips.

Haier HAF5TWA3

* Average price in the past six months: £150. Cheapest price in the past six months: £119

Haier HAF5TWA3 air fryer

We like: It's easy to use

We don't like: It's not the most energy efficient

This single-zone basket air fryer from Haier has a digital display and control panel, which allows you to choose one of the pre-set programs or you can use the knob to adjust the time and temperature manually. The eight auto programs are air fry, grill, roast, bake, dehydrate, defrost, yoghurt and slow cooking.

It measures 35 x 32 x 42cm (HxWxD) and weighs 6.2kg. That isn’t the heaviest we’ve seen but it's probably too bulky to keep moving in and out of a cupboard so make sure you have enough counter space to accommodate it.

Tefal FW5018 Easy Fry & Oven Grill

* Average price in the past six months: £134. Cheapest price in the past six months: £75

Tefal FW5018 Easy Fry & Oven Grill

We like: It has a large viewing window

We don't like: It weighs around 8kg which is pretty heavy

This oven-type air fryer from Tefal comes with a grill plate and rotisserie instead of a drawer for ingredients.

It measures 37 x 33 x 36cm (HxWxD) and the power cord is 105cm long, which means you don't have to put it right next to the plug.

It’s controlled by a digital display and comes with nine cooking modes including fries, chicken, meat, fish, pizza, dessert, grill and dehydrate. You can also set your own temperature, ranging from 45-200°C.

Zwilling 1025057

* Average price in the past six months: £122. Cheapest price in the past six months: £90

Zwilling 1025057 air fryer

We like: It's quick and quiet

We don't like: It doesn't have a viewing window

If you’re only just getting into air frying, this simple Zwilling basket model may appeal. It comes with all the standard features and has a decent four-litre capacity, according to the manufacturer.

This air fryer has six pre-set functions – chips, chicken, prawns, fish, pizza and cake. There are no other functions, although you do have the option of programming the time and temperature manually.

How to spot a good deal on an air fryer

Adam Speight, Which? small appliances expert, says:

  • Air fryer prices usually drop between 20% and 50% when they're on sale. If the appliance is discounted by 50% or more, make sure the original price you're seeing hasn't been overstated to give you the impression of a bigger saving. Compare current prices to our 'cheapest price in the past six months' before you buy.
  • When it comes to multi cookers, don't be upsold on features and settings you're not going to use. Multi cookers are usually on the expensive side, but premium models with extravagant-sounding features can cost £300 or more. If you don't want to spend that much, think about which cooking modes you're actually going to use and avoid overpaying.
  • Retailers tend to raise their prices leading up to Black Friday, Boxing Day or other shopping events, so chances are that the model you have your eye on will drop in price later down the line. Use price comparison sites such as PriceRunner and PriceSpy to check historical price data, and do a quick Google search as some retailers' price feeds aren't picked up by these sites. Which? reviews also carry a selection of retailer prices to help you compare.

How to recycle your old kitchen appliances

If you're looking to replace an ageing air fryer by shopping in the sales, make sure you dispose of your old one in the correct way.

There are plenty of ways you can offload your unwanted appliances. One option is kerbside collection for small electrical items – in many cases, your local council will collect smaller items such as toasters and kettles. Alternatively, you can drop items at a local recycling centre or hand them over to retailers that have their own recycling schemes.

For more details on how to get rid of your unused gadgets, consult our guide on how to recycle electrical items.
