We don’t like: Only certain sizes available for most ranges
Next currently has huge savings available on clearance sofas. Most only come in one or two sizes, so this is a great sale if you aren't too picky on design.
Both two-seaters and large corner sofas are available for £1,000.

We like: Delivery is within two weeks
We don’t like: Only armchairs available
John Lewis has slashed the price of its nkuku armchairs by 20%, while stocks last.

However, even after the discount, they aren't cheap - they still cost around £900 in the sale.

We don’t like: Himolla make a specific style of sofa which might not be for everyone
Lucas furniture is offering between £500 and £1,300 off its Himolla sofas.
Himolla makes leather sofas in mid-century and modern designs. The sofas are expensive - starting at around £2,000 for a leather recliner armchair.
However, if you are looking for an investment sofa, and you are willing to search around for an offer that works for you, this sale is worth checking out.

We like: Fold-out sofa beds available
We don’t like: Only two ranges available
It's not a great time to buy a sofa bed if you are looking for a bargain - the best sofa bed sale we could find was at DFS, which currently has two sofa beds on sale.
Their Lorella (£1,049) and Orlby (£849) sofa beds are both fold-out beds, which have separate mattresses. These tend to be the most comfortable sofa beds, as they most closely mimic the sensation of sleeping on a proper bed.

You might think that the Christmas and Black Friday periods are a great time to buy a sofa, but this isn’t always the case. In fact, our analysis of 208 discounted products at eight major home and tech retailers found that only 2% of items were at their best price on Black Friday.

Instead, try looking for discounts during these key sales periods:
Remember that a lot of stores will run sales for a large portion of the year, so it might be worth tracking an item you want for a few weeks – or months, if you can wait – to see what happens to the price.
The answer really depends on the brand.
In our customer survey of more than 4,000 Which? members, we found some cheaper brands that really shone, and some expensive brands that were rated poorly. Don’t just take the price or brand name as an indicator of quality.
The price also depends on the material you want, and any additional extras. You can get a great-quality fabric sofa for much cheaper than a great-quality leather sofa.
Finally, make sure that you consider the longevity of your sofa. In our survey, we found that readers with a faux leather sofa were significantly more likely to report that their sofa was damaged compared with other materials.
Buying a cheaper sofa might cost less initially, but if you want to keep it looking newer for longer (or you have kids and pets), it might be worth spending a little more.
You can read more about this investigation, and our tips for buying a durable sofa, in our guide to why you shouldn’t buy a faux leather sofa.
Most sofa shops offer a cooling-off period, during which you can return your sofa – provided you haven’t used it, and it’s still in the original packaging.
This means that if your sofa comes and you decide that you don’t like it, or it doesn’t fit in your room, you can return it.
These periods generally range between 14 and 30 days.
Check out our guide to cooling-off periods for more information.
Bear in mind that this doesn’t always apply to bespoke items or sales items (especially clearance sales), so check before you buy.
